The Town of Sherman is changing its email address domain. From here on out it is: @shermanct.gov. In other words, my email is now dlowe@shermanct.gov. There will be a long period of transition wherein if you email Town employees using the old email the message will still reach its intended target. Most Towns and government entities are using this domain now. Primarily, it offers better security and that’s a good thing in this day-and-age of hackers, phishers, and ransomware criminals.

Beach passes are now available at Mallory Town Hall as Park and Recreations director, John Wrenn, holds office hours there now. Also, kudos to Park and Rec for hosting the music series at the beach. Last Saturday with The Blue Yodels was a blast and more music events are coming so be on the lookout for them.

You should have received your tax bills for 2025/26 in the mail this week. Unless you’ve done some significant upgrades to your house and/or property, your bill should be quite close to what you paid last year. With that said, last year was a revaluation year so there could be changes.

Some good news: there’s now gelato at the Daily Market – formerly the IGA. We wish the new owner Richard, good luck in this endeavor.

The resurfacing bids for Anderson Road came in and S&S Paving was selected to do the work. In the coming days, we will schedule a Town Meeting to ask voters for the money to do that necessary project. We will be doing the same for resurfacing and painting the basketball courts at Veterans Fields and the surface painting on the tennis courts, too.

Another reminder here to buy your tickets for the Fireman’s Ball sponsored by the Sherman Volunteer Fire Department. The event is on Saturday, August 3 starting at 6pm. Tickets are available on the Town website under the SVFD heading. A roast beef dinner, live music, and fun with your friends and neighbors. All proceeds go towards supporting our hometown heroes – the SVFD!

On behalf of the Town of Sherman, I wish you all a happy and safe Fourth of July weekend!
