Join the Sherman Library on May 30th at 7:00pm as we host local author and artist Betsy Duckworth as she presents her new book Insects from Nature: The Art of Found Objects. 

Insects from Nature: The Art of Found Objects is part nature walk, part creative journey, and part how-to. Join Betsy Duckworth as she shows you how to find, identify, and transform found flora into unique, insect-inspired sculptures. With step-by-step instructions, this delightful book introduces you to the art of found objects and invites you to view the world through a fresh lens as you use what you find to create your own artwork. Betsy Duckworth is a writer and artist based in Connecticut who often uses found, recycled, and upcycled material in her work, allowing the voice of her scavenged bits and bobs to dictate her pieces. She is particularly fond of fallen and dried flora, work textiles, and rusted metals, as they all have a story to tell. Betsy has a BA in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania and has studied at the University of the Arts, Pennland School of Crafts, and Parsons. When she is not making, she is writing or spending time with her husband and son and their rescue hound mix, Charlie, the best dog ever.
