Join the Sherman Library for “Grow Your Own Veggies”, a presentation by Advanced Master Gardener Michele MacKinnon on Thursday, May 2nd at 6:30 p.m.


With summer approaching, it’s time to start planning your vegetable garden! During “Grow Your Own Veggies” Michele MacKinnon will present organic methods to grow your own food. This informative talk is crammed with ideas and practical steps for creating a garden for the first time, and improving on existing efforts. Learn the importance of location, planting techniques, ongoing care and timing harvests for peak freshness. The best grocery store might just be outside your door.
 
Michele MacKinnon is a lively, trusted garden expert with a “growing” following. She publishes a periodic newsletter titled Garden Advice. Her talks and articles reflect her unceasing focus on continuous learning, experimentation, and careful observation of plant and wildlife behaviors in her own garden. Michele studied landscape design at New York Botanical Garden and Berkshire Botanical Garden. She is a UCONN-certified Advanced Master Gardener, a CT NOFA (Northeast Organic Farming Association) Accredited Organic Land Care Professional, and is a member of the Sherman Conservation Commission. Michele lives and gardens in a pollinator-friendly setting in Sherman, CT.
