The scenic Town of Sherman, incorporated in Oct. 1802, is located in the Housatonic Valley at the northern end of Candlewood Lake. We are a rural community of 23.4 square miles with a population, est., 4,106. Sherman is the northern most town in Fairfield County, accessed by state routes 39, 37 and 55. Sherman has an excellent K-8 School and our High School students have a choice of four area schools to attend. Our town's government is Board of Selectmen, Town Meeting.

U.S. Census forms have been mailed to each resident. Fill yours out promptly to avoid a visit from the census taker. An accurate census count can result in increased financial aid to the Town.

Town Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 31st beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Sherman School Cafeteria to discuss the proposed purchase of the Happy Acres Farm as well as other items. Click here to download a copy of the warning.

A Rabies Clinic will be held at the Town Garage on Sunday, April 11th, from 10:00 am - 12:00 p.m. Pets can be vaccinated for $15/per pet, cash only. Please bring 3-year rabies certificate with you. All dogs must be on a leash and all cats in carriers.

Please note that garbage cans at Town Parks are for park rubbish only. Household garbage will be returned to depositer.

A selective harvest of trees is in progress at the Town Meadows. Hikers and sledders should use caution when on the property. The Selectmen's Office is maintaining a list of residents interested in obtaining firewood from the harvest. Please call of Office at 860-355-1139 to add your name to our list.

Please note: Hunting is prohibited on all Town-owned property, including the Town Meadows.
