Office of the Tax Collector Mission Statement The mission of the Tax Collector’s Office is to collect all taxes, interest and fees due the Town of Sherman and to properly account for them in a timely manner. In addition, the Tax Collector’s Office applies all state statutes and local ordinances equally, without favoritism or prejudice to its citizens, while instilling a high level of integrity and confidence.
The Town of Sherman offers online bill payment through MCC eBill. Payments may be made via ACH (electronic checking) or by Credit card. There is a fee for this service. What Bills Can I Pay Online?
Only current bills may be paid online. if the Due Date for timely payment has passed, you will not be able to pay your bill online. Returning users - Click Here Click Here to Sign Up What Are the Costs? ACH (Electronic Transfer): Pay Sherman directly from your Checking or Savings Account. Each bill paid is considered a separate transaction and a service charge of $0.25 per bill will be processed separately for each payment. If you have a special account you plan to use, make sure you take these charges into consideration. Credit/Debit Cards: We accept MasterCard®, Discover®, American Express®, and VISA®*. If you are using a Debit Card, it will be treated as a credit card payment and will have the same charges associated with credit card payments. The convenience fee for using a credit card is approximately 3% of the payment, except for payments under $100 where the convenience fee will range from approximately 1 to 4 dollars. * * Prices are subject to change without prior notice. A Payment Calculator is located at the bottom of the Registration page. You do not need to register to use the Payment Calculator, simply click the Signup line, select Sherman as your biller and scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Show Payment Calculator". Who Do I Contact with Questions?
The grand list year begins October 1st and billed the following July 1st and January 1st respectively. Real Estate and Personal Property taxes over $100.00 are billed in two equal installments, the first half due July 1st and the second half due January 1st of the following year. All Motor Vehicle Taxes, including Real Estate and Personal Property bills under $100.00, are payable in-full July 1st. Interest is applied the first of each month on all unpaid bills at a rate of 18% annually, reverting back to the due date. |
